Don't Eat the Croutons
They don't substitute Broccoli or Asparagus for the missing tortilla, missing rice, and missing beans. That's ok though, the theory is that they will load more of everything else on because plate will look empty if they don't. Looks like it didn't work this time though...

Hey everybody I'm new to keto. and my husband and I are going on a MUCH NEEDED date night tonight. We might go to chili's restaurant. Is there anything keto that I can eat there or should I stick with a plain salad...

- specially_k I love their steamed broccoli, as a side. For instance, if I get chicken breast and the menu says it is served on rice, I ask for broccoli instead of the rice. If there are two sides, I get double broccoli. Drizzle a little of their yummy salsa on top!
- Gorilla1969 I just ate there last night! I got the 6 oz sirloin steak, scoop of sour cream, and replaced the mashed potatoes with an extra serving of broccoli. Carb Manager app estimated the meal at 6g carb, 33g fat, 52g protein, and 543 calories.

Aside from removing buns, subbing broccoli / salad, etc. Are there any good keto secrets at Chili's? I'm getting back on the wagon and Chili's is the only convenient restaurant near my hotel. They have a nutrition menu, but it doesn't let you pick apart the dishes.
- pennyprepper I went to Chilis last night and got the 6 oz sirloin with grilled avocado. It came with garlic roasted tomatoes and a fresco salad. According to their website it was 410 calories, 15 net carbs, 39 grams of protein and 20 grams of fat. I had the salad dressing on the side and only ate about 1/3 of it and I only had 3 or 4 of the grilled cherry tomatoes, so my carbs were probably less than 15. I had only eaten 2 carbs prior so I'm good there. BTW you can get a side of seared shrimp for $5 or $2.50 for half a side. I got the full side and it's 80 calories, 3 net carbs, 12 protein, 2 fat and really yummy!
- Lady_Bacon_Sprinkles I've ordered the steak fajitas and told them to not bring the tortillas. Just piled all the toppings into the hot skillet the steak comes in and ate it like a giant fajita bowl. Was soooo good and filling!
- deleted The 6 oz sirloin is your best bet. Don't get the one off the light menu, the regular one is covered in butter and is way better on the carbs. You will, however, have to sub broccoli for the potatoes. They also have a bone-in wings appetizer that's keto friendly, we just get the mild with ranch. One person could probably have just that for lunch. Be careful because they also have boneless and the servers, in my experience, seem to think you must be making some mistake ordering the bones.

- lecirca The smoked wings appetizer are good - just get them with ranch instead of BBQ sauce. The fajitas without the tortillas - just mix the toppings you want together on the skillet and eat it like a salad. Steak and broccoli always a winner.

- I work at chili's and I always recommend the fajitas with no onions, extra bell peppers, no tortillas. Ask if you can replace the rice and beans with broccoli, some chili's will some won't. Other good options: ribs, sirloin, ancho salmon, margarita grilled chicken with no tortilla strips. Those all come with two sides: broccoli and asparagus would be your best keto options. Grilled chicken salad is about 19 net carbs and bone in wings in buffalo sauce is like 5 net carbs I believe. Add avocado or bacon to anything for 1$ :)

bossman0150 I went to Chili's with some friends for lunch today. I ordered the steak fajitas with no tortillas, rice or beans. Asked for extra cheese, sour cream and added lettuce. As soon as they brought it out I added the cheese so it would melt and then topped it with sour cream, pico, lettuce and salsa. Stirred it all together and ate it like a salad, it was HEAVENLY!! The sour cream mixed with the juice from the steak and made a wonderful sauce. Very shocked how good it tasted, the best thing I have had since starting keto 12 days ago.
Anyway I ate all the steak and about 70% of the peppers and onions. I am trying to count the carbs but the info w/o tortilla and rice does not seem right. Its showing 23g of carbs and 5g fiber. I can live with it because I will only have a snack later, no other meal. It just seems high to me. Are the majority of the carbs coming from the green/red peppers and onions? Since I left about a third of those should I cut the carbs some? That marinade on the steak has no sugar/sweetener according to chef, I asked before I ordered to make sure.
