Calico River Rapids

Calico River Rapids:
The ride begins in a trading post and supply company that doubles as the attraction’s load and unload station. A team of explorers is looking for hardy settlers and pioneers to take part in a river expedition into the rugged wilderness of the Western frontier territories. Riders board a six-passenger raft and head out on a river adventure.

A team of explorers is looking for hardy settlers and pioneers to take part in a river expedition into the rugged wilderness of the Western frontier territories. Riders board a six-passenger raft and head out on a river adventure.
Knott’s renovated the entire ride, adding a backstory that ties Calico River Rapids to the stories being told on the 1960 Calico Mine Ride and 1969 Timber Mountain Log Ride. Animatronic wild animals now line the shore of Calico River.
The ride passes by a pile of TNT barrels lined up on one side of the river. On the theme park walkway side of the river are three dynamite plungers where visitors can get riders even more wet. But the best part is that the plungers backfire every once in awhile, turning the tormentors into the soaking wet victims.
