For over 30 years, BJ's Restaurants has supported the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, including through our "Cookies 4 Kids" program which promotes the sales of our signature Pizookie dessert. It's a very sweet way for our guests to join us in helping to find a cure for cystic fibrosis. These compelling photographs showcase beautiful, energetic, young adults each bravely battling the genetic disease called cystic fibrosis.
In addition, the BJ's Restaurants Foundation supports charities and community causes across the country with our award winning TASC force program - Team Action to Support Communities. Since 2006, thousands of BJ's team members have volunteered at local TASC force events including blood drives, food banks, child education and healthcare programs, community clean-ups, and hundreds of other community events.

American restaurant chain, headquartered in Huntington Beach, California. The chain operates under the names BJ's Restaurant & Brewery, BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse, BJ's Grill, and BJ's Pizza & Grill.BJ's was founded in 1978 and first opened in Santa Ana, California, as BJ's Chicago Pizzeria by Jim Kozen and Leonard Allenstein. The original name was BJ Grunts, but due to a Federal Trademark conflict with RJ Grunts, a Chicago-based hamburger shop, the name was changed. Shortly after the opening of the first restaurant, Mike Phillips and Bill Cunningham bought 50% of the company. Kozen and Allenstein left the group after the opening of the 7th store. Phillips and Cunningham sold the company to their accountants Paul Motenko and Jerry Hennessy in 1991.
By 1996, seven restaurants had opened between San Diego and Los Angeles. Originally known as Chicago Pizza, the company went public in 1996, raising $9.4 million. The company then bought 26 Pietro's Pizza restaurants in March 1996 in a $2.8 million deal in cash and assumed debt, but then sold off seven of the locations with plans to convert the remaining Pietro's to what was then BJ's Pizza. During the same year, the company opened a microbrewery at its Brea restaurant.
As of December 2022, BJ's operated 215 restaurants in 29 states.

The Belgian-style wheat beer from BJ's has been honored with a Gold Medal by the North American Beer Awards. Even though the size of the menu rivals the Cheesecake Factory's-which got its start around the same time and in the same state-they aren't related. BJ's was originally named BJ's Chicago Pizzeria and was, first and foremost, a pizza joint before even considering craft beer. Luckily, the restaurant and brewhouse has come a long way from its modest beginnings, making my job of finding the best menu items more challenging than ever before.
