Baseball HallThe National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit educational institution, dedicated to preserving history, honoring excellence and connecting generations. Core to the fulfillment of our mission is the ability to preserve and share our library, archives and museum collections. This treasure trove of items bring to life the history of our National Pastime and the inspiring stories of the Hall of Famers, for a global audience. More than 17 million visits have been made to the Museum in Cooperstown, NY since our doors opened June 12, 1939.

America's National Pastime is also the full-time obsession of Latin America - a region that produced almost 30 percent of the players on recent Major League Baseball Opening Day rosters. The Museum and Library collections document the game's history and bring its most important moments to life. Each item - the bats, baseballs, gloves, spikes and uniforms - tells an important story about the game's history. But the collections are also broad and deep, documenting both the game on the field and its impact on American culture. It may be art, books, manuscripts, baseball cards or photographs that bring your memories of the game to life.The Museum's three-dimensional collection contains tens of thousands of artifacts representing all facets of the game, from its inception to the present. This includes bats, baseballs, uniforms, player equipment, ballpark items, awards, artwork, textiles, collectibles and memorabilia relating to all aspects of baseball including, but not limited to, Hall of Famers, Major and Minor League players and teams, the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, the Negro Leagues, stadiums, events, amateur baseball, and international baseball.
- Library and Research Center
The library is the foremost repository of baseball information, in all formats, in the world. Founded in 1939 along with the Hall itself, the library is a specialized research facility whose collections and services are available to all. The archives and collections contain over three million documents, everything from books and magazines to scrapbooks and manuscript collections, as well as over 250,000 photographic images and over 16,000 hours of recorded media.The Research Center is where you can access the items held in the Library's archives and collections in person, appointments are preferred but walk-in visitors are accommodated as time allows.
Original documents, photographs, and recordings are stored under state-of-the-art archival conditions designed to ensure they are preserved for future generations. We may restrict access to some fragile items, in accordance with contemporary standards on the handling of these materials.
