AT 14-YEARS-OLD OSCAR F. MAYER MOVED FROM BAVARIA TO THE U.S.
He started as a butcher's boy, then found a job in meatpacking.1883
OPENED HIS FIRST SHOP & TOOK A TOTAL OF $59 ON THE FIRST DAY.
That's about $1,600 in today's money!1906
WE JOINED A FEDERAL MEAT INSPECTION PROGRAM, EVEN AS A SMALL CHICAGO SHOP.
We were on the up.1919
EXPANSION BEGAN.
We bought a small farmer's co-op meatpacking plant in Wisconsin.1929
ALL HAIL THE YELLOW BAND!
We added a stripe of yellow to our packs as a halo for high-quality meat.1936
THE GREAT DEPRESSION CAME ALONG & THE COUNTRY'S SPIRITS NEEDED LIFTING.
We launched the Wienermobile & it soon became a national icon.1963
WE CREATED OUR VERY OWN JINGLE.
It became such a hit, people started requesting it on the radio.1964
