What to do if your Animal Bloats

What to do
- Passing a stomach tube is the best treatment for a gassy bloat
- A trochar and cunnula is punched through the side into the rumen, will relieve gassy bloat
- For frothy bloat, anti-foaming agents that disperse the foam should be given by stomach tube
- One cause of bloat is the accumulation of excessive gases within the rumen
- Equal amounts of hay & grain
- Break up feed into smaller amounts
- Break up hay into smaller sticks
- Lambs
What to do
- Throw your lamb up and down
- Stomach tube if needed
- Squirt baking soda water in mouth
- Make sure to keep walking your lamb
- Eating to fast
- Choking
- To much alfalfa
- Water down food
- Feed in smaller amounts
- Goat
What to do
- Massage the upper left side of the the goat's neck
- Raise the front portion of the goat
- Pat or massage the rumen section to release the gas
- One thing that can cause major bloat in goats is too much alfalfa
- Feed in smaller amounts
- Feed equal amounts of grain & alfalfa
