When you buy boneless skinless chicken breasts they are not really shaped like a breast piece of fried chicken - they look like little uniform squares of meat. That's because they separate the tenderloin to sell it separately.
The tenderloin of a chicken is the long, innermost muscle of the breast lying along the breastbone. It is the most tender meat on the bird. Every chicken has two tenders. When you eat a fried chicken breast - the tenderloin is that kind of long piece that pulls out cleanly from the side.
- Chicken tenderloins are actual parts of a chicken. Strips of white meat located on either side of the breastbone, under the breast meat.
- Chicken tenders can be tenderloins or just white meat cut from the breast or just pulverized chicken flesh.

Located on each side between the breast meat and the ribs. These are removed from boneless breasts and sold separately as tenderloins.
Tenderloins not to be confused with "tenders" which can be either tenderloins or strips cut from the breast. In the UK tenderloins are called "chicken mini-fillets".
